Alcohol-based mouthwash products are a dime a dozen. You can find them anywhere that oral hygiene products are sold. Some consumers think they are the bomb. Others, not so much. How about you? If you don't like alcohol-based products, we invite you to check out EcoFam mouthwash tablets instead.
EcoFam mouthwash tablets are a terrific addition to your natural toothpaste tablets and sustainable toothbrush. They help contribute to a zero-waste lifestyle. Most importantly, they actually do what they are supposed to do: clean your mouth and freshen your breath.
Alcohol as a Mouthwash Ingredient
Believe it or not, the alcohol in a liquid mouthwash isn't always an active ingredient. Sometimes it is just a preservative added to protect the other ingredients. But even when it is active, it's not necessarily the best thing for your mouth.
Most people can use alcohol-based mouthwash with no negative side effects. But there are those who react negatively to it. Here are some of the more common side effects, complements of Healthline:
● Dry Mouth – Dry mouth is a condition in which the salivary glands don't produce enough saliva to keep the mouth adequately moist. Unfortunately, alcohol-based mouthwashes can make dry mouth worse.
● Burning – The skin in the mouth is hypersensitive. It is so sensitive that excessive exposure to alcohol can lead to a burning sensation. Some people actually experience pain when rinsing with an alcohol-based mouthwash.
● Additional Irritation – Although alcohol-based mouthwashes are sometimes promoted as a treatment for cold and canker sores, they can actually irritate sores. When combined with a toothpaste or oral rinse containing sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS), a mouthwash can make canker sores worse.
None of this is meant to disparage alcohol-based mouthwash products. Some people love them and use them faithfully. Others do not. It's for this other group we carry our natural mouthwash tablets and mouthwash concentrate.
What You Get With EcoFam
If you were to choose EcoFam mouthwash concentrate, you would get a natural product with no harsh chemicals or fluoride. Our mouthwash concentrate relies on ingredients like organic aloe vera juice, xylitol, vegetable glycerin, and menthol. You get all the germ-killing and breath freshening benefits without putting alcohol in your mouth.
That said, we still recommend you consider our mouthwash tablets. You get similar natural ingredients, including xylitol, hydroxyapatite, calcium carbonate, menthol, and magnesium stearate. But you also get something else a liquid product cannot offer: a more convenient format.
Tablets Make Rinsing Easier
One of the biggest disadvantages of alcohol-based mouthwash products, from a convenience standpoint, is the liquid format. A bottle of liquid in the bathroom medicine cabinet is one thing. Taking a bottle to work is another matter. The same goes for packing a bottle of mouthwash in your luggage when you travel.
EcoFam mouthwash tablets are a ton easier to use. You can carry 4-6 with you in a small bag, giving you the opportunity to rinse several times during the workday. As for traveling, forget leaky liquids that soak into your clothes and leave nasty stains behind. Take only the number of tables you need for your trip. They are easily carried in a comparatively small container.
To use EcoFam mouthwash tablets, you simply put one or two in your mouth and chew until they create a paste. Then add a dash of water and swish the entire mixture around your mouth. Spit out into the sink and you're done.
Some people prefer alcohol-based mouthwashes. If you aren't among them, give our mouthwash tablets a try. Our mouthwash concentrate is another option if you prefer liquid products.
